The National Football League is heading into a landmark season. With no salary cap, several high-powered offenses looking even more potent heading into the 2010 season, and a certain quarterback almost certain to bust back into the lineup before his suspension is up, there’s no reason why this season would make Sundays any less magical than the 2009 edition.
As the New Orleans Saints bask in the extended glory-festival that is the post-championship offseason, several teams are contending with absences, injuries, or departures that will define their upcoming seasons.
Chris Johnson, embroiled in an effort to get the enormous contract that is due to him after picking up a NFL record 2,509 yards from scrimmage in 2009, may keep himself out of early training. In the meantime injuries to Brandon Marshall and Steve Smith could keep them off the field for training camp or even the preseason, which could lead to miscues or even poor starts for their respective teams.
