There is no team in the NBA right now that is hotter than the Dallas Mavericks. They have won 12 straight games — the most notable wins coming against the Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers and the Atlanta Hawks.
On Wednesday night, Dirk Nowitzki and company will be defending their home floor against the worst team in the NBA right now, and quite possibly the worst team in NBA history, in the 7-56 New Jersey Nets.
The only thing that separates the New Jersey Nets from the 71-72 Philadelphia 76ers and the worst NBA regular season record of all-time is two wins. There are still 19 games left in the season for the lowly Nets and there’s a chance they will turn things around, but they won’t get one of two wins they need to avoid NBA history against the red hot Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night. The Mavs have no intentions of losing to the worst team in the league like the Boston Celtics did on February 27th.
Last Saturday night the New Jersey Nets were able to get one of their seven wins against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, but they will definitely have their work cut out for them tonight against a very motivated Dallas Mavericks team looking to make a run in the second half of the season. The Mavs will be trying to get as many wins as possible before the playoffs in order to get a higher seed in the playoffs and compete with the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.
Usually when a point spread is really high it is extremely unwise to count on a team beating their opponents by 10 or more points, but tonight is the exception as the Mavs will almost certainly cover the -11 point spread.
